Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Polish Royal Opera invites you to the festival IN TEMPORE REGUM. Music in the Times of Kings, which will be held in 13-20 September in royal surroundings of Warsaw. The programme of six festival events will be filled with music from the times of the Polish Commonwealth of the 17th and 18th centuries. The incredible richness of the Polish baroque art manifests itself in many works created at the royal and noble courts as well as in manuscripts stored in monastic libraries. Pieces of this still little known and appreciated music will be performed by the outstanding Artists of the Polish Royal Opera and invited Guests who specialize in the performances of early music.
At the inaugural concert on Sunday, 13 September at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Soloists, the Chorus and the Period Instruments Ensemble of the Polish Royal Opera Capella Regia Polona will perform Lechleitner, Stachowicz and Szczurowski’s poignant, sacred music compositions. Two subsequent festival nights will also be filled with religious music – 16 September at the St John’s Archcathedral and 17 September at the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Warsaw.
The Festival will also include music which accompanied Commonwealth court festivities. On 18 September at the Wilanów Palace, the Period Instruments Ensemble of the Polish Royal Opera Capella Regia Polona will perform instrumental fragments of opera pieces of outstanding French composers – André Campra and Jean-Babtiste Lully. We also cordially invite you to the first ballet opera in the history of our institution – NOVERRE EN ACTION held at the Royal Theatre and performed by the great Balet Cracovia Danza under the direction of Romana Agnel. The clou of the final concert will be the figure of JOHANN ADOLF HASSE, brilliant German composer, who was, for many years, staying in the service of Polish kings, and whose operas were considered to be the pinnacle of excellence.
Tickets to all events are already on sale.
We hope you’ll enjoy the concerts!
