Ladies and Gentlemen,
On the 3rd of July, we are proud to inaugurate the 4th Festival of the Polish Royal Opera – an annual series of summer music meetings initiated by the Director of the Opera, Andrzej Klimczak. In the year of the celebration of the 265th birthday and 230th anniversary of the death of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the youngest of the composers of the First Viennese School will be the hero of this musical celebration. His outstanding work can be admired in excellent interpretations of the Soloists, Chorus and Orchestra of the Polish Royal Opera on the stage of the Royal Theatre and the Palace on the Isle in the Łazienki Królewskie Museum, as well as in the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
The festival will open with LA FINTA GIARDINIERA (The Pretend Garden-Girl), which premiered in February this year. This first opera premiere in Poland during the 2021 pandemic was warmly received by the audience. The festival audience will also watch the famous opera buffa COSÌ FAN TUTTE OSSIA LA SCUOLA DEGLI AMANTI (Thus Do They All, or The School for Lovers), the unwaveringly popular staging of LE NOZZE DI FIGARO (The Marriage of Figaro) and the “operatic plaything” BASTIEN UND BASTIENNE, prepared for our youngest audience members. The festival will be crowned by DON GIOVANNI, brilliantly combining a sinister and suspenseful plot with comedic elements.
For lovers of chamber music, we have prepared the concert series Mozart da camera. The musicians of the Orchestra of the Polish Royal Opera Orchestra will showcase their artistry in smaller ensembles, presenting VIOLIN SONATAS, as well as other of Mozart’s chamber works in interesting arrangements for a WIND QUINTET or STRING QUARTET at the Palace on the Isle. We also invite our audience to the Royal Castle for a SONG RECITAL performed by the soprano Olga Pasiecznik, accompanied by her sister Natalia Pasiecznik at the piano.
