The courtyard in front of the Kubicki Stables at the Royal Łazienki Museum in Warsaw
A wig – this important element of character makeup is to the face what a frame is to a painting: it highlights, sets the tone, and draws attention. It is an integral part of a costume, telling us about the historical period, the character’s personality, and even their state of mind. It is especially important in productions set in times when wigs were an essential part of court attire. During the workshop, we will take a look at some of the most interesting wigs from various productions of the Polish Royal Opera and try to guess which characters might have worn them. Then, we will create our own wig-based hairstyles, drawing inspiration from flowers – the variety of their shapes and colors. Together, we will create a true garden of hairstyles. Our guide on this journey will be makeup and hair artist Anna Danikowska.
The Workshop is organized in collaboration with the National Centre for Culture and is intended for families with children aged 8 and above.
Free admission passes for the workshops will be distributed by the National Centre for Culture from the 15th of June.
