The opening event of this unique celebration of early music will be the premiere of Georg Friedrich Haendel’s opera Rinaldo. The work combining historical themes, Christian ethos, and the world of magic will also be heard on the 26th of September. Love, passion, and unusual characters found in this title will also accompany the viewers during October evenings. Moments of joy, reflection, and passion will be provided by the wonderful works of the great masters of the Baroque era. In addition to works by Haendel (RINALDO and RODELINDA), the festival program includes such operas as Henry Purcell’s DIDO AND AENEAS, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s LA SERVA PADRONA, Alessandro Scarlatti’s SCENE BUFFE, and L’ORFEO – “the masterpiece of the human spirit” by Claudio Monteverdi.
