Ladies and Gentlemen,

On the 24th of June, the 6TH SUMMER FESTIVAL OF THE POLISH ROYAL OPERA will begin – this time dedicated to OPERA BUFFA. The beautiful interiors of the Royal Theater and the Palace on the Isle in the Royal Łazienki Museum and the Royal Castle in Warsaw will be filled with a cheerful atmosphere of recreation thanks to light comic operas. This unique musical celebration will be inaugurated by the premiere gala of L’ITALIANA IN ALGERI by Gioacchino Rossini, which will take place on the 24th of June at the Royal Theatre. The subsequent performances are scheduled for the 25th, 28th and 29th of June. The music of the master of comic opera will constitute a kind of frame for the Festival – its culmination will be the opera IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, one of the most important achievements of the genre.

The program of a Festival dedicated to opera buffa cannot lack the work that initiated the development of this genre. The modest intermezzo LA SERVA PADRONA by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi was originally intended to be only a playful interlude between the acts of a “serious” performance, but it turned out to be a work of genius, delighting subsequent generations of listeners with its artistry. The audience will be able to judge for themselves whether Piotr Kamiński was right to compare Pergolesi’s talent to the skills of Mozart himself, as COSÌ FAN TUTTE by the Viennese master will also be performed during the festival.

The Polish accent in the program of the Festival will be Maciej Kamieński’s MISERY CONTENTED, resumed after a long break. Although this one of the first Polish operas does not contain typically Polish musical elements, it perfectly reflects the best Italian, German and French models.

For lovers of chamber music, the Soloists of the Polish Royal Opera together with pianist Dagmara Dudzińska prepared the concert CHE LIETO GIORNO, with famous arias and ensembles from operas by W.A. Mozart, G. Rossini or G. Donizetti arranged for voice and piano.

Tickets for all Festival events are available in the tab REPERTOIRE.
