The concert will be broadcast on Polish Radio Channel Two as part of the cycle Filharmonia Dwójki. The broadcast will begin at 19:00 and will be hosted by Magdalena Łoś-Komarnicka.
Georg Friedrich Handel is undoubtedly one of the leading composers of the Baroque era. His artistic repertoire includes a full range of instrumental and vocal-instrumental genres, and above all – operas and oratorios. His style integrates elements of Italian, German, and English music. Considering such versatile artistic interests, as well as his many travels, it is no wonder that Haendel achieved a particular mastery in shaping musical dialogues – both vocal and instrumental, solo or of multiple instruments.
The Sol per te concert program includes all types of the above-mentioned musical dialogues. We will hear opera duets performed by excellent singers – Olga Pasiecznik and Anna Radziejewska. Apart from the love confessions of Flavia and Lepido from the opera Lucio Cornelio Silla, from which the concert has taken its title, we will also hear equally moving opera fragments of Rodelinda, Imeneo, and Ariodante.
Instruments will also cooperate and compete, for the program also includes the overture to Rodelinda, as well as the last of Concerti grossi op. 6. All concertos from this opus are considered to be among Haendel’s greatest achievements in instrumental music and one of the most representative examples of their genre. By using an astonishing diversity of artistic means, Haendel juxtaposes smaller ensembles of solo instruments (concertinos) with the sound of the entire orchestra. The works dazzle with artistic power of expression, their untrammeled melodic patterns, and original finales, attesting to Haendel’s theatrical experience.
