LILIANNA KRYCH

Conductor. Lilianna Krych graduated from the Chopin University of Music, the symphony and opera conducting class under the tutelage of Prof. Marek Pijarowski (2011). She further perfected her conducting skills during masterclass courses with Maestro Collin Metters, Jonathan Brett, and Jerzy Salwarowski.

Between 2013 and 2018 she worked for the Polish National Opera as an assistant-conductor in preparation of numerous operas and ballets, where she had an opportunity to work with other conductors, such as Stefan Soltesz, Carlo Montanaro, Andriey Yurkievich, Łukasz Borowicz and many others. In 2016, Krych made her debut at the festival “Warsaw Autumn” when she led the first scenic performance of S. Sciarrino’s Luci mie traditrici. The spectacle was also broadcast during the New Opera Days Ostrava Festival in 2018. Krych has also conducted the following operas: B. Britten’s The Rape of LucreceOrlando Paladino by J. Haydn, and Mozart’s Don Giovanni. She was also responsible for the musical side of various theatrical plays, such as Biegacze with the music by N. Burzyńska (2014) and Trojanki based on Euripides, with the music composed by M. Śniady (2016). As a conductor, she also works with the Song of the Goat Theatre in Wrocław (shows:  Return to the Voice and Hamlet directed by Grzegorz Bral). She performed on stage in Poland and abroad (China, Romania).

The conductor often cooperates with ensembles specializing in modern music: Spółdzielnia Muzyczna Contemporary Ensemble and Hashtag Ensemble, for which she conducted performances and first performances during various composing competitions finals (Tadeusz Baird Young Composers’ Competition 2017, the “T. Serocki” International Competition 2017), as well as the leading musical festivals (Festival of Traditional and Avantgarde Music “Codes” 2017, “Portraits of Composers” Festival 2017, POLIN Music Festival 2018, Warsaw Music Encounters 2018, Sacrum Profanum 2018, Warsaw Autumn 2018, Afekt Festival in Tallin 2018). She is also a music teacher on various levels, e.g. conducts the mixed orchestra in the “Oskar Kolberg” National Music School in Warsaw, and – together with violinist Dagna Sadkowska – Nowy Teatr Youth Orchestra. The conductor has also worked with the Lower Silesian Philharmonic and the Świętokrzyska Philharmonic.

Between 2008 and 2018 she led the choir of the Warsaw Stage Society Choir, with which she has realized many projects both in Poland and abroad. Between 2010 and 2014 Krych led the Clil choir, the only amateur Jewish choir in Poland, performing in Yiddish, Hebrew, Ladino, and Polish. In 2011, she recorded the Pieśni szabatowe (“Sabbath Songs”) with this band. During the season 2016-2017 she was the Chorus Master in the Warsaw Chamber Opera.

Since 2018 she’s been the Chorus Master of the Polish Royal Opera.
