KAROL SZWECH

In 2019, he graduated from prof. Tomasz Bugaj’s class of symphonic and opera conducting at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, crowning his education with a conducting debut with the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. In 2017, he received a distinction at the 2nd Adam Kopycińsk Polish National Conducting Competition in Wrocław. During his studies, he worked, among others, with the Beethoven Academy Orchestra, the Polish Radio Orchestra and the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra. As a conductor, he completed a two-year internship at Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera.

In 2020, he completed postgraduate studies in Music Management at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He is also a graduate of Bachelor studies specialising in church music, which he finished with honours in 2014. He also completed a Master’s degree in organ playing in the class of prof. Jerzy Dziubiński.

He was awarded a scholarship of the Rector of the University of Music, a scholarship of the Centre for the Thought of John Paul II – the capital city scholarship, as well as the Prime Minister scholarship. In February 2020, he took part in the Second International Conducting Course with Michalis Economu and the Athens Philharmonia Orchestra in Greece. In addition, he studied under the supervision of prof. Sławek A. Wróblewski, Massimiliano Caldi, Stanisław Diaczenko, Yu Feng and Carl Montanara. He perfected his skills assisting conductors, including Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, Massimiliano Caldi and Michał Dworzyński. As an organist and conductor, he has performed in France, England and Greece, among others.

Since 2019, he has been teaching a conducting class at the Faculty of Church Music at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. He has worked with numerous choirs and music groups, including the Choir of the College of St. Stanisław Kostka in Warsaw, the Choir of the Parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Mokotów and the Choir of the Parish of St. Krzysztof in Podkowa Leśna.

In September 2020, he joined the Polish Royal Opera as an assistant conductor.
