Ladies and Gentlemen,
In just a few days, the 2nd BAROQUE FESTIVAL OF THE POLISH ROYAL OPERA – MONTEVERDI will commence. This year, the event will be entirely devoted to the music of the great master of the turn of the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
On the 11th of September, we invite you to a performance prepared specially for the festive inauguration of the festival – SÌ DOLCE È’L TORMENTO, directed by Ryszard Maciej Nyczka. During the event, the historic interior of the Stanisławowski Theater will be filled with the sound of selected madrigals of the “divine Claudio” interpreted by outstanding Artists specializing in the performance of early music. During the concert LAUDATE DOMINUM on the 15th of September, we will hear the Italian master’s religious music, in which the deep spiritual dimension is in perfect harmony with the expressive, subtly constructed soundscape.
There will also be performances of Monteverdi’s brilliant operas. L’ORFEO (on the 16th and 17th of September) will transport the audience to the mysterious world of mythical gods, where the power of Music guides through the paths of love and death. On the other hand, L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA (on the 22nd and 23rd of September) will lead us from the divine order back to the earthly world of intrigue and wickedness, where the characters are driven by their dark desires and ruthless lust for power.
