Ladies and Gentlemen,
The 7th SUMMER FESTIVAL OF THE POLISH ROYAL OPERA is about to begin, with Gioachino Rossini as its central protagonist. This unique musical celebration will be inaugurated by the grand premiere of the opera LA CENERENTOLA, which will take place on the 22nd of June at the Royal Theater. The performance is directed by the beloved Jitka Stokalska, whose staging is sure to include sophisticated humor and play on convention. The musical layer of the performance is supervised by maestro Dawid Runtz, and Marlena Skoneczko is responsible for the stylish set. The subsequent performances will take place on the 23rd of June (second premiere), as well as on June 26th and 27th.
The cheerful summer mood will not leave us in July, thanks to other light operas buffa by the Italian master. The historic stage of the Old Orangery will be taken over three times by a resolute Italian girl (L’ITALIANA IN ALGERI: July 6th, 7th, 9th), and the next three evenings will belong to a cunning barber (IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA: July 18th, 19th and 20th). Virtuoso arias, witty dialogues, a true display of parody and musical panache – no wonder Rossini is called the king of comic opera.
We have not forgotten about our youngest music lovers, for whom we have prepared SINGING WORKSHOPS – Family meetings with Rossini at the Polish Royal Opera, scheduled for July 9th and July 18th. Children aged 5-12 and their guardians will have the opportunity to look around the magical world of Rossini’s operas, learn the stories of Cinderella, the Barber of Seville, and the Girl in Algiers, and learn what it’s like to work behind the scenes of the theater.
The partner of the 7th Summer Festival of the Polish Royal Opera is Ruch Muzyczny.
