Georg Friedrich Handel is one of the leading composers of the Baroque era. His artistic oeuvre includes a full range of instrumental and vocal-instrumental genres, and above all – operas and oratorios. His style combines integrated elements of Italian, German and English music. Faced with such versatile artistic interests, as well as his many travels, Handel achieved particular mastership in shaping musical dialogues – both vocal and instrumental, solo or of multiple instruments.
Sol per te concert programme includes all types of the above mentioned musical dialogues. We will hear opera duets performed by excellent singers – Olga Pasiecznik and Anna Radziejewska. Apart from the love dialogue of Flavio and Lepido from the Lucio Cornelio Silla opera, from which the concert has taken its title, we will also hear equally moving opera fragments of Rodelinda, Imeneo and Ariodante.
Instruments will cooperate and compete, for the programme also includes an overture to Rodelinda, as well as the last of concerti grossi op. 6. All concertos from this opus are considered Handel’s greatest achievements in instrumental music and one of the most perfect representatives of their genre. By using the astonishing diversity of artistic means, Handel juxtaposes smaller ensembles of solo instruments (concertinos) with the team of the orchestra. One could actually hear traces of Handel’s theatrical experience there. They dazzle with artistic power of expression, their untrammeled melodic patterns and original finales.
