NIGHT OF MUSEUMS / CHAMBER CONCERTS

13 May 2023, Saturday
Time 19:00-22:00
The Royal Theatre in the Old Orangery in the Royal Łazienki Museum in Warsaw

Already Marco Scacchi – a theoretician and composer of Italian descent active for a quarter of a century at the royal court of the Polish Vasa dynasty – emphasized the diversity of music depending on its purpose. He distinguished between music created to be performed in the church, in the theater, and in the chamber. Audiences will be able to see how composers approached the latter trend in the following centuries during this year’s edition of the Night of Museums. The beautiful historic interiors of the Old Orangery in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw will be filled with various sounds of works written in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The warm timbre of the viola will merge with the lyrical song of the flute in duets by Ludwig van Beethoven. The flute trio will perform the famous melodies from The Marriage of Figaro – will the graceful chamber arrangements delight the audience as much as the original scoring for the orchestra? We will also hear the smooth sound of a violin quartet and arrangements for, perhaps, the most popular type of chamber ensemble – the string quartet. Works by masters such as Mozart, Beethoven, Delibes, and Noskowski will be performed by ensembles comprised of musicians from the Orchestra of the Polish Royal Opera.
