Ladies and Gentlemen,
we are glad to inform you that on April 13th, the Easter Monday, at 12:35, the TVP Kultura channel will broadcast the opera DIDO AND AENEAS / HENRY PURCELL performed by the Polish Royal Opera. The spectacle, directed by Natalia Kozłowska, was recorded on 15th February 2020 in the Royal Theatre in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw.
Dido and Aeneas is an opera in three acts by Henry Purcell with libretto by Nahum Tate. This one of the most ingenious works of the English Baroque was based on the tragic story of Dido and Aeneas, described in Virgil’s Aeneid. Henry Purcell translated the
tragedy and emotions of the protagonists into the language of music. Ancient symbolism of this story of love and destiny was successfully put in the short form. We hope you’ll enjoy the concert!
