Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today, on 25th October, we celebrate 2. World Opera Day, initiated by international organisations of opera theatres. Although the current epidemic situation limits to a great extent the functioning of theatres and other culture institutions, we persist in believing that it is music, and opera in particular, which is a great medium for unforgettable emotions and an inexhaustible source of inspiration.

We hope that we will soon be able to meet you easily in the charming interiors of the Royal Theatre in the Łazienki Museum in Warsaw. In the meantime, we would like to invite you to a music programme Niedziela z… Polską Operą Królewską (Sunday with… The Polish Royal Opera) – today at 17.15 on TVP Kultura. Immediately after the programme, at 18.05, we also recommend watching the recorded version of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, directed by Natalia Kozłowska. The premiere performance of this ingenious baroque piece, produced by the Polish Royal Opera took place last year on 1. World Opera Day. At the time of pandemic, the event brings back bitter-sweet memories of this extraordinary – from today’s perspective – time, and the story of the power of love and destiny, acquires new, unexpected significance.

We wish our dear Audience many thrills connected with communing with this great Art, and to all opera theatres scattered all over the world – we wish a quick comeback to full operation.
