Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are delighted to announce that a competition for the development of an architectural concept for the theater of the Polish Royal Opera was opened on the 30th of December 2022.
“We are announcing the next stage of this much-needed investment, which is the construction of the new building of the Polish Royal Opera – a competition for the architectural concept of the opera house” – said Deputy Prime Minister Professor Piotr Gliński during a press conference in the Royal Łazienki Park in Warsaw. The Minister of Culture and National Heritage stressed that the opera house would retain its intimate character.
The new venue will be built in the Royal Łazienki Park, at 1 Myśliwiecka Street. According to the competition guidelines, the auditorium of the new Opera Hall of the Polish Royal Opera is to accommodate 350-400 spectators. The building will also include a foyer that will host exclusive exhibitions and an orchestra rehearsal hall that can also be used for smaller music events.
The competition is divided into two stages, open, and allows unlimited participation of teams that meet the conditions for participation. A maximum of 6 teams will proceed to the final stage. The submissions will be assessed by a team of judges led by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the Cracow University of Technology, dr hab. Magdalena Kozień-Wozniak.
