The radiant motet Exsultate, jubilate<\/em> for soprano with accompaniment of string instruments, oboes, horns, and organ was composed during Mozart\u2019s last of three youthful journeys to Italy, in 1773. Written for the outstanding castrato Venanzio Rauzzini, it places high demands on the performers, captivating with the Italian-inspired virtuosity of the vocal part and refined orchestral sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, even before the young composer visited Italy, he could already boast a considerable body of work, including, among others, the beautiful hymn Te Deum<\/em> from 1769. This early Christian prayer, traditionally attributed to St. Ambrose and St. Augustine, in the interpretation of the thirteen-year-old Mozart gained a compact form and a radiant sound well suited to the solemn character of the text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Program koncertu zwie\u0144czy Msza C-dur, znana jako Koronacyjna<\/em>. Podobnie jak wi\u0119kszo\u015b\u0107 utwor\u00f3w sakralnych Mozarta powsta\u0142a podczas pe\u0142nienia przez niego funkcji koncertmistrza w s\u0142u\u017cbie arcybiskupa Hieronymusa von Colloredo w Salzburgu. The concert program will culminate in the Mass in C major, known as the Coronation Mass<\/em>. Like most of Mozart\u2019s sacred works, it was composed during his tenure as Konzertmeister in the service of Archbishop Hieronymus von Colloredo in Salzburg. It was for the cathedral in his native city that he wrote this work, one of his most famous mass settings alongside the Requiem<\/em>. Completed in 1779, it was most likely first performed that same year during the Easter celebrations. In 1791, it was performed again in Prague, where it graced the coronation festivities of Emperor Leopold II as King of Bohemia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
