What secrets lie in the depths of the celesta, and how many flutes can you find inside an organ? What does a regal have in common with a Roman amphitheater, and why is a small organ called a positive? Join us for a close encounter with historical instruments: the regal, the positive organ, the harpsichord, the spinet, and the celesta. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though they all have keyboards, they sound nothing like the piano! Jakub Jastrz\u0119bski \u2013 harpsichordist, organist, and supervisor of keyboard instruments at the Polish Royal Opera \u2013 will reveal the secrets of how these instruments are built and how their sounds are created. We\u2019ll also listen to the marvelous treasures gathered on stage, discover their roles in various operatic works, and even try playing some organ pipes ourselves!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop is intended for children aged 7 and above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
