He died of tuberculosis the following year, just before his 26th birthday. Known for his justice and devotion to public affairs, the young ruler started being worshiped soon after his death and was canonized in 1602.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It should come as no surprise that Queen Marysie\u0144ka (Marie Casimire Sobieska), after moving to Rome, commissioned Alessandro Scarlatti to write a piece praising this particular saint &#8211; the patron of Poland. In this way, the widow of John III Sobieski could remember her country of origin. Thanks to her, an excellent work was created, distinguished by the beauty of its melody and the challenges it poses for its performers. In virtuoso arias, the personifications of Secular Love (Amor Profano) and Royal Splendor (Regio Fasto) try to lead the Prince away from the path of virtue.
