Szymon Mechli\u0144ski, an exceptionally talented baritone of the young generation, has been working toward restoring these long-unheard works to the stage, dusting off the names of composers who have been building the Polish opera tradition for decades.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the concert program, the name of Henryk Jarecki returns like a refrain. The composer and conductor played an important role in shaping the Polish opera scene in Lviv and took an active part in organizing the musical life of the capital of Galicia. His operas and songs often alluded to Polish-Lithuanian history and tradition. Unfortunately, the works staged at the Skarbkowski Theater and conducted by the composer himself never returned to the stage in the years that followed. Fragments of other works that suffered a similar fate will also be heard during the recital: an aria from <em>Pan Wo\u0142odyjowski<\/em> by Henryk Skirmunt &#8211; an opera that did not return to the stage after the Lviv premiere in March 1902, and Angelos&#8217; monologue from the universal work <em>Wyrok<\/em> by Zygmunt Noskowski. The latter was taken off the stage of the Grand Theater in Warsaw after only four performances in 1906.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The concert will also include works from the first half of the 19th century &#8211; an aria from Franciszek Mirecki&#8217;s opera <em>I due forzati<\/em> and a passage from Karol Kurpi\u0144ski&#8217;s opera <em>Le\u015bniczy w Kozienickiej Puszczy<\/em>. Both composers went down in history as one of the most outstanding Polish opera composers of the pre-Moniuszko era. Interestingly, Mirecki created works in both Polish and Italian.
