Whether in the era of Viennese masters, in the heyday of Romanticism, or in the late nineteenth century, opera arias are a field for compositional refinement and performance artistry. They not only content carry the content of the text, but also reveal the characters’ personality, their bad or good intentions. The often extreme emotions they experience – from euphoria to despair – are enchanted in the monologues of the characters of dramas.<\/p>\n

During the concert, we will hear fragments from the famous stage works of Mozart, from Beethoven’s only opera, from compositions by such Italian masters as Bellini and Verdi, and from representatives of the French operatic tradition – Bizet or Gounod. Outstanding singers – Monika Ledzion-Porczy\u0144ska and Wojtek Gierlach – accompanied by Dagmara Dudzi\u0144ska at the piano, will embody both the characters from comic operas (such as Cherubin or Figaro from Le nozze di Figaro<\/em>) and tragic heroes – for example, the lovesick Santuzza from the verismo opera Cavalleria rusticana Mascagni<\/em>. The audience will also have the opportunity to listen to Dalila’s song of betrayal from the work of Saint-Sa\u00ebns and experience the devilish cunning of Mephisto from Gounod’s opera Faust<\/em>. The arias selected for the program contain a whole range of emotions presented in a variety of musical styles.<\/p>\n
