It took Beethoven a long time to write the perfect introduction to Fidelio<\/em>. As a result, as many as four overtures were created – the first three are known today as Leonore No. 1, 2<\/em> and 3<\/em>. During the concert, we will hear the last one – considered the most flawless, exceeding in dramaticism the one which the composer himself considered appropriate to open his only opera.<\/p>\n

The overture boasts a whole range of emotions – the darkness of hell, the lightness of heaven. Perhaps it was the intensity of this music that made Beethoven decide on a different version for his opera “Fidelio”<\/em> – stated the Lithuanian conductor Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla.<\/p>\n

This exciting introduction will be followed by the no less interesting Oboe Concerto in C major<\/em> by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This three-movement composition begins with the light and brilliant Allegro aperto<\/em>, constituting a kind of introduction to the actual fast first movement. These are followed by the slow movement as was customary, and the whole thing ends with the melodious Allegretto<\/em>. The concerto was written in 1777 for the oboist Giuseppe Ferlendis, but until 1920 it was considered lost. Found by Bernhard Paumgartner, it quickly became part of the popular oboe repertoire.<\/p>\n

Finally, the Orchestra of the Polish Royal Opera will perform Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7<\/em>. It was not without reason that Richard Wagner called it the apotheosis of dance. The dance motifs filling the first and last movement of the composition carry an extraordinary charge of emotions – the suggestiveness and strength of sound create an atmosphere of vigour and determination. They are in sharp contrast to the middle movements – the majestic Allegretto<\/em> reminds one of a funeral march, while the third movement Scherzo<\/em>\u00a0introduces a bit of lightness and fun to the whole composition.<\/p>\n
