Genius symphonist, master of musical drama, afficionado of the human voice. Ladies and gentlemen, may we present you Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart \u2013 central figure of today\u2019s concert, whose life and oeuvre have inspired generations of artists. This night, filled with the Viennese master\u2019s music, will start from the symphony of a cheerful character, listed 201 in K\u00f6chel’s catalogue. Composed by the 18-year-old Mozart in Salzburg, intended for a smaller set of instruments (beside strings, the score comprises only oboes and horns), this composition is especially subtle. The grace and sensitivity with which the composer uses the sound of wind instruments, is well worth noting.<\/p>\n

The second part of the concert will feature audiences and performers\u2019 favourite opera fragments – Cos\u00ec fan tutte, Le nozze di Figaro, Die Zauberfl\u00f6te, La finta giardiniera and\u00a0Don Giovanni, each of them ripe with musical pearls which can freely be performed outside of the opera context. After all, Mozart\u2019s genius also lies in his perfect ability to render a person\u2019s character \u2013 be it comical or dramatic \u2013 in a single aria.<\/p>\n
