Ladies and Gentlemen, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is our pleasure to announce that the results of the second stage of the competition for developing the architectural concept of the theater of the Polish Royal Opera were announced on the 14th of September 2023. The first prize consisting of a cash prize and an invitation to negotiate a single-source contract for providing a service based on the selected competition entry was awarded to the architectural design studio STELMACH I PARTNERZY. The team of authors of the winning work consists of Boles\u0142aw Stelmach, Marek Zarzeczny, Rafa\u0142 Szmigielski, Zbigniew Wypych and Sylwia Wojnicka, Kamil \u015awisto\u0144, \u0141ukasz Kuczy\u0144ski, Agata Plichta<\/strong>, and Jan Dodacki<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The justification for the verdict stated:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

The entry proposes a compact building with a trapezoidal shape inscribed in the outline of the site. Multi-layered facades of considerable thickness dematerialize the boundary between the exterior and interior of the facility, integrating it with the park surroundings. The three-dimensional model of a metaphorical forest used to shape the tectonics of the construction gives an individual character to the building of the Polish Royal Opera and creates a new mark in space.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a unique way, the work reconciles the existing layout of the Stanis\u0142awowska Axis, the corner of the Royal \u0141azienki Park and the vicinity of contemporary architecture, often created at random. It is a clear sign in the landscape of high culture and balanced aestheticization of space. It creates a new identity of the location that remains in perfect harmony with the historical space and enriches the landscape in terms of composition and urban planning.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The competition jury consisted of EngAD Magdalena Kozie\u0144\u2013Wo\u017aniak (chairman), arch. Jacek Lenart (judge referee), Iwona Pastwa-Zarychta, prof. EngAD Zbigniew Myczkowski, Piotr Walkowiak, landscape architect Marek Szeniawski, arch. Wojciech Wagner, arch. Piotr Lewicki, and prof. EngAD Piotr Lorens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post-competition exhibition can be viewed in the exhibition pavilion of the Warsaw Branch of SARP (Foksal 2) until the 20th of September 2023, from 9:00 to 16:00 (except the 19th of September).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The post-competition discussion will take place in the SARP exhibition pavilion on the 20th of September 2023 at 15:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
