Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>\n
Today marks the second anniversary of the death of the late Professor Ryszard Peryt – co-founder and first director of the Polish Royal Opera, an excellent stage director, lecturer and actor.<\/p>\n
Ryszard Peryt was the only director in the world to produce all the stage works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; he also interpreted all the stage works of Claudio Monteverdi. He will always be remembered for the projects he realized at the Polish Royal Opera, including both early and contemporary works by Polish composers, as well as the greatest masterpieces of European musical heritage.<\/p>\n
The last months of his life were devoted to working on The Haunted Manor<\/em> (Straszny Dw\u00f3r<\/em>) by Stanis\u0142aw Moniuszko. The premiere of this patriotic opera took place on the 30th<\/sup> of December 2018 and was the culmination of the celebration of the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of Poland regaining independence, and, at the same time, inaugurated the Year of Stanis\u0142aw Moniuszko. In Ryszard Peryt’s interpretation, the piece took on a metaphysical character – in the opera’s finale, we did not hear the traditional Polish dance Mazur, but Agnus Dei<\/em> from the Litany of Ostra Brama, as if the director wanted to crown his work with a communal prayer of supplication.<\/p>\n It is worth noting, that Ryszard Peryt started preparations for one more performance before his death. The last premiere realized by the Polish Royal Opera according to his concept was Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo<\/em>.
