Mezzo-soprano. A graduate of the Instrumental Faculty and the Faculty of Vocal and Acting Performance oat the Academy of Music in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a (graduated with honours). Lachowicz perfected her vocal skills during master courses in Poland and abroad, for instance with Nella Anfuso, Fedora Barbieri, or Christian Elsner. She\u2019s also obtained a postgraduate diploma in speech and language therapy at the M. Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education, and in neurological speech therapy at the SWPS University. She is a speech therapist and teaches pronunciation and solo vocal.<\/p>\n
She made her debut as an opera singer on stage of the Grand Theatre in \u0141\u00f3d\u017a, as Hansel in E. Humperdinck\u2019s Hansel and Gretchen.<\/i>\u00a0Between 1993 and 2017 she was a soloist at the Warsaw Chamber Opera. She sang in many operas, for instance by Monteverdi (Penelope in\u00a0Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria,\u00a0<\/i>Arianna in\u00a0Lamento d’Arianna,\u00a0<\/i>Ottavia in\u00a0L’incoronazione di Poppea<\/i>), Purcell (Witch in\u00a0Dido and Aeneas<\/i>), Handel (Cornelia in\u00a0Giulio Cesare<\/i>), Rossini (Isabella in\u00a0The Italian Girl in Algiers,\u00a0<\/i>Rosina in\u00a0The Barber of Seville<\/i>),\u00a0<\/i>Mozart (Third Lady in\u00a0The Magic Flute<\/i>, Dorabella in\u00a0Cosi fan tutte<\/i>), Stravinsky (Baba the Turk in\u00a0The Rake\u2019s Progress<\/i>), Tchaikovsky (Olga in\u00a0Eugene Onegin<\/i>), and\u00a0Campra (Clorinda in\u00a0Tancredi<\/i>). \u00a0She\u2019s also appeared in operas by modern composers, e.g. in Z. Rudzi\u0144ski\u2019s Antygona<\/i> (\u201cAntigone\u201d, the title role), and B. Matuszczak\u2019s Zbrodnia i kara <\/i>(\u201cCrime and Punishment\u201d) and Quo Vadis<\/i>. With artists of the Warsaw Chamber Opera she\u2019s performed on stage in opera theatres in France, Germany, Japan, and Lebanon.<\/p>\n
In 1999, she made her debut in the National Theatre in Warsaw as Jadwiga in S. Moniuszko\u2019s Straszny Dw\u00f3r<\/i> (\u201cThe Haunted Manor\u201d) directed by Andrzej \u017bu\u0142awski.<\/p>\n
The artist\u2019s repertoire also includes oratorios and cantatas from different periods \u2013 from the Baroque to contemporary times (e.g. alto and soprano II in works by Bach, Handel, Pergolesi, Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Mozart, Rossini, Szymanowski, etc.), as well as numerous songs. Lachowicz is particularly fond of Polish composers: Chopin, Moniuszko, Kar\u0142owicz, Niewiadomski, Paderewski, Szymanowski, Bacewicz.<\/p>\n
As a soloist she performed at many music festivals in Poland and abroad, such as: the Warsaw Autumn, the Wratislavia Cantans, the Mozart Festival in Madrid, the Ludwig van Beethoven Festival, the Al Bustan Festival in Beirut, the Wiener Musiksommer, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival in Rostock, the Summer Brandenburg Concerts, the Musica Religiosa in Spain, the Music Festival in \u0141a\u0144cut. She\u2019s frequently performed in the Concert Hall S1 of the Polish Radio in Warsaw, and with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice. Lachowicz regularly collaborates with philharmonics, musical centres, and concert agencies in the entire Poland.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s collaborated with many esteemed conductors: A. Liebreich, K. Kord, J. Kasprzyk, A. Duczmal, S. Stuligrosz, N. Santi, M. Jurowski, J.-C. Malgoire, K. Bumann. The artist has performed with the Orchestra of the National Theatre in Warsaw, the Hofkapelle Munchen, the Orchestra of the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock, the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra, the \u201cAmadeus\u201d Chamber Orchestra of the Polish Radio, the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra, and the ensembles Il Tempo and Concerto Avenna.<\/p>\n
As a soloist, she appeared on 16 CD recordings with period and contemporary music for TAKT, DUX, Polskie Nagrania, Polskie Radio, Musicon, and Vivisound production companies. Three of these CDs have been nominated for the Fryderyk award: F. Caccini\u00a0La liberazione Di Ruggiero\u00a0<\/i>(DUX, 1996), I. Peri\u00a0Euridice\u00a0<\/i>(DUX, 2001), M. Kar\u0142owicz\u00a0Pie\u015bni, serenady\u00a0<\/i>(Polskie Radio, 2006).<\/p>\n
Dorota Lachowicz was awarded the Bronze Cross of Merit in 2005 and the Silver Cross of Merit in 2011, both for outstanding vocal performances.<\/p>\n
