Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Polish Royal Opera invites you to another event organized as part of the nationwide action #StayHome – art will come to you. We would like to encourage you to listen to the retransmission of our concert, during which the Artists of the Polish Royal Opera performed the famous oratorio Messiah by Georg Friedrich Handel. The concert was recorded on 19 January 2019 as part of the Festival of Ancient Music in the Royal Castle in Warsaw. The concert will be published on the YouTube channel of the Polish Royal Opera on 15 April at 19.00.
Messiah was hailed a masterpiece already in Handel’s times. The oratorio, composed in only 24 days, is still popular today, each time arousing the enthusiasm of the audience. In terms of music, Messiah is characterized by an abundance of measures used for a relatively small number of performers. In Handel’s times the number of singers and musicians did not exceed 60 people. The Artists of the Polish Royal Opera would like to bring this original sound back to life.
